Ep.5 | How did we know we found the right condo? #BuyandSellSeries
There's always going to be that lingering feeling once you've submitted an offer for a property that makes you question whether you've made the right decision or not but there are two simple ways to help mitigate this.
There's always going to be that lingering feeling once you've submitted an offer for a property that makes you question whether you've made the right decision or not but there are two simple ways to help mitigate this.
The first way to help yourself feel more confident with this decision is to make sure you look at all of the properties that match your criteria, whether online or in-person, so you can truly understand what options are available to you at this point in time.
When we were looking to buy our condo, there wasn't a lot of inventory available so we would go out and see pretty much anything that came on the market just in case the photos online didn't do it justice.
Through these numerous showings, we were able to get a really good idea of what kind of condo we would be able to buy in different neighbourhoods at several different price points while also figuring out what layout/size suit us best.
This ultimately allowed us to make a very quick decision to submit an offer on the condo we ended up purchasing.
The second way to help yourself feel confident when buying & deciding on a property is to establish a Top 10 checklist of items that you absolutely need in your new home.
By creating a rating system like this, you're able to easily compare properties based on how many of your criteria are met.
If a property only ticks off 5-7 of your criteria, it likely won't work for you as you are making too many concessions to enjoy it.
If a property gets 7+ of your criteria checked off, it should be seriously considered as no matter your price point, there is always going to be a compromise.
By educating yourself on the marketplace and setting consistent search criteria, you are able to trust in your knowledge that you have looked at all available options and realistically compared them which will make you feel better about submitting an offer on a property that does meet your established criteria.
In the next episode we're going to talk about what the offer process was like once we found the condo we wanted to buy so be sure to stay tuned for that later this week!
